Grand Parents Day Celebration
On the first Sunday after Labor Day we celebrate National Grandparents Day. This year the date falls on September 12.
Like Mother’s day and Father’s day we also have a whole day dedicated to our grandparents.
Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to both make grandparents live longer, and also make children more emotionally resilient. Grandparents Day is an opportunity to treasure that connection and spend some quality family time together.
● Why Do We Celebrate Grandparents Day?
● The History of Grandparents Day
Marian McQuade hoped to establish a national day that would honor grandparents, and in 1970 she began a campaign to do so. McQuade raised awareness about senior citizens throughout the 1970s.
In 1978, President Jimmy Carter declared the first Sunday after Labor Day to be National Grandparents Day. Each year, the president issues a proclamation to keep the tradition going.
Grandparents Day has both an official flower and song. Both were chosen by the National Grandparents Day Council.
● The official flower is the forget-me-not.
●The official song is Johnny Prill’s “A Song for Grandma and Grandpa.”
Most grandparents don’t care what activity they do—they just want to spend time with their grandchildren.
Gajera vidyabhavan sachin wanted to celebrate this day differently as our Indian tradition. Because of this pandemic we were not able to invite grandparents of our children at school so, we celebrated it virtually.
We started our celebration to welcome them by doing tilak as our indian tradition by their grandchildren. Our tiny tods performed pooja of their grandparents.
They played different games with their grandparents and spend quality time with them.
After that we arranged ' Fireless healthy food competition '. Students made healthy food with their grandparents . They participated in competition with great zest and zeal . They also knew the value of healthy food .
At last they gave them their review and how they enjoy celebration.
Because of this day Students learnt about, how their grandparents are important for them. The bond between them became more emotional and strong. The place that we have for our grandparents in our life is priceless.
