Why Health and Fitness is Important?



Health is Wealth, How many times we heard this proverb? Yes, we heard it so many times by our teachers, in books, parents. Do you know what does it mean? This proverb was written by American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1860. It means good health is essential aspect of human life. A healthy life enables us to remain positive and face all life challenges. Good health promotes mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being.


  • Fitness is the key of good health. The best way of living a good life is by maintaining good health and fitness. A person is healthy and fit when he/she perform well physically as well as mentally.


  • Health and fitness should be a lifestyle for all people because what you eat affects your overall health, exercise maintains your body’s good condition, and supplements aid in keeping you at peak performance. When your body is healthy, you are able to be a more productive part of the community.


Currently, as we all know that COVID-19 is a terrifying wake-up call for the whole world. Earlier, everyone knows that exercise promotes good health. But many don't understand just how important it really is. Exercise increases blood flow throughout the body, meaning that more immune cells can circulate at a higher rate. A study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that among people who engaged in aerobic exercise five or more times per week, upper respiratory tract infection decreased by 40% over 12 weeks. Due to COVID-19, Peoples are starting to finally realize that staying fit isn't just about looking good—it's about strengthening the immune system and staving off serious health problems.


We can take care of our healthy and fit lifestyle in various ways. Like regular exercise, yoga, quality food and sleep.


  • Role of Exercise on our Health: Regular exercise helps us in good health as well as maintain our body shape. Exercise helps in good oxygen supply and blood flow throughout the body.


We should daily spend at least ten minutes on exercise. Initially do simple exercise like walking, running, jogging. Afterward, start doing some warm-up exercise whatever suitable for you. Here are some basics exercises to try:

  • Lunges: It is a good exercise for strengthening. A lunge can refer to any position of the human body where one leg is positioned forward with knee bent and foot flat on the ground while the other leg is positioned behind.



  • Squat: It is also a good exercise for strengthening. In this exercise, humans lower their hips from a standing position and then stands back up.



  • Plank: It helps to stabilize, balance, and power the body during just about every other activity.

  • Role of Yoga on our Health: A healthy mind is key for a healthy body. Yoga makes us stress-free and improves the endurance power of the mind.

  • Yoga helps us in being a healthy and peaceful lifestyle. It increases our flexibility and improves posture. Yoga helps us in mental clarity and calmness, relaxes the mind, and sharpens the concentration. Our mind gets relaxed and thinking becomes positive.

  • Sun Salutation is one of the best yoga among all yoga. In which almost every part of the body involves and is considered as a complete exercise.

  • Role of Food on our Health and Fitness: Without proper nutrition, there is no way to guarantee our fitness either. While exercise is important undoubtedly, you will need to maintain a proper diet if you want to be healthy. We should take nutritious food. Food rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates is very essential.

Taking a balanced diet keep body and mind strong and healthy. Good food helps in better sleep, proper brain functioning, and healthy body weight.



Generally, a healthy diet consists of taking proper and healthy food which includes eating green and fresh vegetables, fruits, having milk, eggs, minerals, proteins, and vitamins essential for a human’s lifestyle. The food we intake has a great impact on our healthy and fit lifestyle.

  • Impact of Rest &Sleep: Sleep plays a vital role in leading a healthy lifestyle. Rest and relaxation are very important so that your body and mind can recuperate. Without getting enough relaxation and rest, your body is going to start functioning inefficiently and performance will decrease too. This is where getting sufficient sleep is very important. Relaxing between physical activities is essential for the proper growth of your body.



When you sleep well, your body and mind work well. It enables the body to repair and be fit and ready for another day.


The International Yoga Day has been celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015. We at Gajera Vidyabhavan, Sachin celebrated this day by showing the videos of exercises and yoga by our expert trainers. The trainers also explained the importance of a healthy and fit lifestyle. All the children enjoyed it very well. Students also shared the experience with teachers.



A person stays happier when he/she is fit and healthy. The healthy mind reacts better in a pressure situation. The self-confidence of a person is increased. With the increased immunity power body could fight disease. The intensity of the fracture is decreased with regular exercise. Leading a healthy lifestyle leads to happiness, success, and achievements.
