INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY



"Yoga is not a religion. It is a science. A science of well-being, a science of youthfulness, a science of integrating body, mind, and soul".

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on June 21 since 2015. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in India. The practice of Yoga brings joy, health, and peace from within and deepens a sense of connection between an individual's inner consciousness and the external world.


The essence of yoga is balance - not just balance within the body or that between the mind and the body, but also balance in the human relationship with the world. Yoga emphasizes the values of mindfulness, moderation, discipline, and perseverance. When applied to communities and societies, Yoga offers a path to sustainable living. Yoga can be an important instrument in the collective quest of humanity for promoting a sustainable lifestyle in harmony.


In keeping with this spirit, the theme for this year’s Yoga Day celebrations is “Yoga for Humanity.”The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly, in which he said:

"Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world, and nature.”


On that basis, Gajera Vidyabhavan, Sachin celebrated World Yoga Day on 21 st June 2022. The session was held in our assembly hall Students from classes 1 to 12th took part in the celebration. A group of students who were yoga students performed several asanas. They also performed standing and sitting asanas. As well as "Suriya Namskar'. Our yoga teacher Miss-Rushika Gaekwad showed us some simple beginner asanas. The inaugural speech was given by the principal Mr.Nitin Patil who emphasized the importance of Yoga and physical exercises in daily life. Yoga day was celebrated with great enthusiasm.
